Dog Halloween CostumesDog Halloween costumes can be fun if it's right for the dog. Especially if your dog is a natural born show-off and loves being the center of attention. In that case dog costumes are the perfect way to include them in the Halloween fun!
How tolerate is your pet going to be and how will it react? Some love getting all dressed up. Others chafe at the mere site of a simple bandana. You could see how they react to wearing a cut-down T-shirt. If that goes well think bigger. Gradually expose a dog to the costume. Allow the dog to sniff the costume. Get used to it. Treat him and then put the costume on him for a little while. Then treat him again. Slowly increasing the amount of time in doggy disguise. You have to think of the size. Costumes are usually more ideal for small dogs. (And wouldn't little Ziggy look "darling" as a bumblebee?) In other words tiny and huge dogs may be hard to fit. Determine size by the length of the dog from neck to start of tail. That can range from a few to many inches. A hat can have holes for the ears. Or not. Costume options range from superherios to skunks, or the more traditional devils and bats. On the other hand if your dog is not into his costume, don't force it. Maybe you can go with a colorful bandana. Or perhaps a theme collar instead. Dog Costumers Do Have Their RewardsDecked out dogs can be a hoot at Halloween. And who knows? You just might be rewarded with a big win at a dress up contest. Butch might be found to be "Prettiest in Pink". You both may win "Best Matching Dog and Owner". Could your dog be judged to be the "Scariest" or winner of the "Best Little Dog Costume" What if they're found to be "Top Dog Costume"?
